The Gospel Getting Through

Over this season of level 4 lockdown in New Zealand, many people have been cleaning up their homes. Someone I know cleaned out her pantry, another got rid of unused crockery, still another is tidying up her worldly belongings.

When confined to our homes, one of the most obvious things to do is to clean up and clean out. Second hand stores around the country have warned people not to leave them their junk as there is no-one to process it. They are all in lockdown too. I have also been cleaning up my digital files recently.

Today I had a thought. My Dad brought my cellphone out to the table, and caught in the magnet was a stray Gospel tract. It must have been on my desk. Then I thought What if other people find the Gospel as they are sorting through their mess, too? And so I prayed that this might be a time when the message gets through. That people would find these things and have the time to read them. That in light of current events, people would have hearts to search for God and ears to hear him. That through curiosity at a time of crisis, God’s Spirit would work mightily to bring people to a true knowledge of him.

So, do not grow weary, Saints. Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. And especially, at this time, abound in prayer. For you know that in the Lord your labour is not in vain. (1 Corinthilans 15.58)
